2025 Report to the Community
We invite you to explore the Otsego 2000 Report to the Community which highlights the work your support makes possible, and how you can continue to make a difference. Together we are building a stronger, more resilient community.
All of our programs represent ways in which Otsego 2000 works to ensure our community thrives now and into the future. We’ll continue to work hard to build upon our programs that add to our community’s strength, well-being, and cohesion, and, when threatened, we will stand steadfast to protect our region’s singular environmental resources for future generations. We cannot do this important work without you.
Please consider a donation today to enable us to continue this important work at www.otsego2000.org/ways-to-give. There is nothing more powerful than when our community comes together to share and grow, and as a result we all thrive!
For more than 40 years, Otsego 2000’s mission has been to ensure that our region, with Otsego Lake at its heart, is preserved and protected for current and future generations through intelligent planning, innovative programs, community building, and, when required, community organizing and legal action. Taken together, our programs and advocacy strengthen the social fabric of our communities, enhance our quality of life, and ensure a clean and healthy environment for all. We could not do what we do, or achieve what we have achieved, without your continued support.
Otsego 2000’s commitment to serve as a steward of our region’s environmental and historic assets remains our guiding mission. Everything we do supports our environment – our natural environment, our built environment, and our social environment, intangible yet so important to our community’s strength, well-being, and resilience.
At the heart of our community is the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market, an essential year-round source for local foods and artisanal wares and also a vital gathering place for our farmers, artisans, musicians, friends and neighbors from all backgrounds to connect over a shared commitment to keeping our economy local and strong.
Likewise, Glimmerglass Film Days, in its 13th year as a major cultural event, provides, art, culture, and a rare opportunity in this age of personal screens for our community to experience collectively a long weekend of thoughtfully curated exceptional films and documentaries, sparking conversations and connections that endure far beyond the Film Days experience.
Otsego Outdoors makes exploring the beauty of Otsego County’s growing number of trails and paddles easy through its listing of publicly accessible trails, parks, and paddle put-ins, as well as ways for new and long-time residents to get involved thanks to our comprehensive events calendar listing all outdoor recreational events and volunteer opportunities around the county.
Our Historic Preservation program focuses on the remarkable integrity of Otsego County’s many historic resources, instilling pride of place and deeper understanding of our 19th and 20th century buildings through our annual walking tour series rotating among our 15 historic districts. Retaining these historic homes, farms, and storefronts is critical to our community’s fabric, which is why we provide free technical assistance to historic property owners applying for the New York historic tax credit program.
