Ice Cream Social at Lakefront Park

Otsego 2000 will host an ice cream social during the Lakefront Concert Series concert at Lakefront Park in Cooperstown on Tuesday, August 19 from 6 pm until 7 pm. The concert featuring The Currys begins at 6:30 pm. Lakefront Park is located on the southern end of Otsego Lake, between Pioneer Street and Fish Road.

Otsego 2000 is an environmental and preservation advocacy nonprofit based in Cooperstown. They operate the year-round Cooperstown Farmers’ Market, present Glimmerglass Film Days each November, manage Otsego Outdoors, and offer historic preservation and environmental stewardship initiatives. To mark the 25th year of the Glimmerglass National Historic District, Otsego 2000 curated an exhibit, “Reflections on Glimmerglass” at the Smithy, on view through August.  The exhibit features works by 16 artists, historic and literary quotes, and a community art project featuring photos of Otsego Lake in all seasons.

“As we mark 25 years of the Glimmerglass National Historic District and the protections and benefits the designation provides to the region, it is a great time to celebrate along Otsego Lake,” said Ellen Pope, executive director of Otsego 2000. She noted that when the Glimmerglass District was placed on the National Historic Register in 1999, Otsego 2000 held an ice cream social to celebrate. Free ice cream, provided by Stewart’s Shops, will be offered to the first 200 people.
